What cannot bear the light of day
In history books, you can learn a lot about the history of Leiden. But there are some stories you never come across. In this theatre tour, we do not leave out the gory and unsavory details. In fact, we dwell on them longer. And sometimes there are things that cannot be explained. Things people don't want you to know.
Learn which university lectures could not bear the light of day. Discover the medieval city prison. Find out how cruel the Geuzen (Beggars) were in Leiden. Hear how the stately canals were once filthy little ditches. The storyteller will leave no sordid detail unmentioned. And sometimes, when the storyteller is really in a bad mood, he takes you to the places that must not be discussed. The stories that should have remained untold. The stories that cannot be explained.
