About the event

For Leiden the release was a defining moment in history. But the villages around Leiden certainly took a blow as well. During this theatre tour through the village of Voorschoten we will discover to which extend Voorschoten suffered during the siege.

The local nobles played a significant part in the events. Arent of Duivenvoorde experienced a lot of the historical highlights first hand. There was a reason his nickname became the Beggar of Duivenvoorde!

But the line between good and bad is thinner than one would think. Ordinary villagers weren't always as pleased with Arent. Meanwhile, inn keeper Gerrit Claeszoon is mainly trying to keep his inn, the guilded horn, from being closed. And if he succeeds....

Attention: This tour does not take place in Leiden, but in Voorschoten. Please bring your bicycle to move from the various sites.
